Built across Aliyar River between 1959 and 1969, the primary purpose of the dam is to support irrigation for Pollachi and near by places for Agriculture purpose. The height of the dam is 81 meters.Situated 27 kilometers away from Pollachi, nestled at the foothills of Valparai, this reservoir is a captivating spot. The Aliyar Dam not only offers scenic views but also features attractions such as a park, an aquarium, and a mini Theme Park, all managed by the Tamil Nadu Fisheries Corporation, making it an excellent destination for a picnic.

Next, continue your trip to Monkey Falls, located at the 9th kilometer junction on the Pollachi-Valparai road. These stunning falls, positioned near the Aliyar Dam between Pollachi and Valparai within the Anamalai Hills, are a sight to behold.
